This sympodial plant forms robust, sheath-bearing pseudobulbs with 1–2 leathery leaves. The parent plants, including the well-known Rlc. Toshi Aoki, produce large, waxy, often pleasantly fragrant flowers in warm yellow tones; the lip usually displays a contrasting red to mahogany and may be accompanied by red flames or markings on the petals. Flowering occurs preferably from late summer into autumn. In cultivation, this hybrid prefers bright, filtered light with good air circulation, intermediate to warm temperatures, and a well-draining substrate (coarse bark). During the active growth phase, water thoroughly, allowing the soil to dry out well between waterings; in winter, water more sparingly and with slightly less moisture. Light, regular fertilization during the growing season promotes compact, floriferous plants. Suitable for container planting. Can also be tied up in high humidity.
