Cattleya Valentine fm coerulea is a large-flowered Cattleya hybrid in the sought-after "coerulea" color form, known for its cool, bluish-violet tones. The plants grow sympodially with strong pseudobulbs and 1–2 leathery leaves, remaining compact. From mature bulbs, upright flower spikes usually produce one to several flat, fragrant flowers about 12 cm in diameter. The lip typically displays more intense blue-violet shades with fine veining, while the sepals and petals are a lighter steel to lavender blue. As an epiphytic Cattleya with parent species from tropical America, it prefers bright, filtered light (typical for Cattleyas: bright to sunny with some shade), good air circulation, and a fast-drying, coarse bark substrate. Water thoroughly during active growth and allow the soil to dry out well between waterings. Water more sparingly in winter, but not bone dry. Fertilize lightly and regularly during the growing season. Temperatures in the temperate-warm range and a slight day-night temperature difference promote abundant flowering. The flowering time is variable in hybrids; the "coerulea" line particularly showcases the elegant, cool color effect.
