Bulbophyllum falcatum is a striking orchid species known for its unusual flowers. It is endemic from Sierra Leone to the Congo and western Uganda and prefers a partially shaded environment. The plant should be kept consistently moist. It is temperature-tolerant and thrives in moderate climates. The flowers of Bulbophyllum falcatum are a particular highlight. They measure between 5 and 8 cm and are shaped like a curved sword, hence the name "falcatum." The flowers are typically greenish-brown with a yellowish center. The flowering period extends from February to May. Unlike many other orchid species, Bulbophyllum falcatum has no specified dormancy period and can be cultivated year-round. For optimal plant care, Bulbophyllum falcatum should be fertilized twice a month with a mild fertilizer. This promotes healthy growth and flowering.
