Flowering size orchid
Beautiful, well-cultivated, and floriferous plants with many shoots. Dendrobium scabrilingue is a delicate, epiphytic Dendrobium from Southeast Asia (including Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam). It typically grows in a creeping to slightly trailing habit with slender, club-shaped pseudobulbs, each bearing a single, leathery terminal leaf. This species belongs to the group formerly sometimes classified as Flickingeria and is very well suited for cultivation on cork or in well-aerated baskets with fast-drying substrate. The small, creamy to yellowish flowers emerge singly from the leaf sheaths, often successively over an extended period; the lip has a characteristic texture ("rough tongue"). Care: bright, but filtered location with good air circulation; temperatures intermediate to warm. Water evenly during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Light, regular fertilization during the growth phase is beneficial. With its compact growth habit and fine, elegant shoots, this species is an attractive addition for lovers of unusual dendrobiums.
