Flowering size orchid

Dracula vlad-tepes is an exceptional representative of the cloud forest orchids from the Andes of northwestern South America. It grows epiphytically, forming short, upright shoots (ramiculae) each with a single oblong leaf; its habit remains compact and creeping, ideal for basket or net planting with loose sphagnum moss. Typical of Dracula species, the plant produces drooping, single-flowered inflorescences from its base; therefore, it should be raised or cultivated in well-draining containers. The flowers are broadly triangular with long, thread-like sepal lobes; the waxy, often contrastingly patterned surface and the movable labellum give them their characteristic "bat" appearance. Under suitable conditions, flowers appear throughout the year.
