Flowering size orchid

Coelogyne fimbriata is a compact, sympodial orchid from the Himalayas and Southeast Asia (including northeastern India/Myanmar to southern China, Indochina, and parts of Malesia). It forms short, creeping rhizomes with densely packed, ovoid pseudobulbs, each usually bearing two narrow, leathery leaves. The flowers typically appear in late summer to autumn on short, upright inflorescences and are yellowish to olive-green; the three-lobed lip displays characteristic dark brown markings and strikingly fringed (fimbrated) edges – giving the species its name and making it exceptionally ornamental. In cultivation, this species prefers semi-shaded conditions, temperate temperatures, high humidity, and a consistently moist, very airy substrate (e.g., fine bark with added sphagnum moss). A slight reduction in water and fertilizer after the completion of shoot growth promotes flowering; it is best grown mounted or in small pots, as the species tends to creep.
